JOYASEDA'S AMBER GLORY

JOYASEDA'S AMBER GLORY
EXPECTING A LITTER MAY 2013

DUSTIN X TIZIANA LITTER 2009

Breeding a CDN Kennel Club registered bitch to an AM Kennel Club registered sire is slightly more involved. First of all both Sire and Dam must have passed up to date CERF exams, also within 10 days prior to breeding, Brucellosis tests must be negative. Then there is the matter of the bitch's travel to the home of the stud dog-in this case about 1000KM one way.(We drove, I like to be with my girls so they won't be frightened) There is border crossing which means- passport for human and vet certificates for dogs......and don't think the border guards won't ask!!! Breeding involves mating the pair 3 days in a row with a good tie lasting up to 30 minutes. Where will one stay for these 3 days? In our case Ken and Nancy were very hospitable and put us all up in their guest room, in spite of the fact that Nancy works and they had a litter on the ground!! Thank you Ken and Nancy!!! Then there is the stud fee...yes the boy dog gets paid to have fun! This usually is the same as the price of one puppy. Sometimes the stud dog owner will take a pick puppy back instead. Then, mission accomplished, it is travel back home and wait. The expectant mother will need exceptional care and no upsets. Puppies should arrive 9 weeks (as opposed to 9 months for humans) after mating. When the litter arrives and has survived and is feeding and growing well, it can be registered with the CDN Kennel Club. This is rather general ie number of males, number of females, Reg# and name of sire and dam, date of mating, date of birth. Signatures of owners of sire and dam. In the event of an American registered sire, the paperwork has to be sent to the stud dog's owner for signature and forwarding to the Am Kennel Club for approval. If the sire is popular his DNA must be on file with the AKC which is the case with Dustin (Liveoak's L'Big Man of Donway). Then when the AKC has approved the litter registration it can be sent to the CKC with a 3 generation pedigree of the sire attached. Then the litter is assigned a CKC number and individual registration papers are sent to the breeder so each puppy can be separately registered. Of course there are fees involved at every step. All this so your new puppy can have a proper registration from a desirable line. This includes of course kisses, cuddles, puppy breath and cleaning up poo. Not to mention proper feeding, socializing, vet visits and shots. A labour of love I say!!!

CH JOYASEDA'S PUNKY BREWSTER

Here I am, the wind in my hair. I run and no one can catch me.

Here we are in beautiful Kingsville, Ontario. Mummy wanted to go for a paddle, but we couldn't allow her to go by herself, so we jumped into the canoe to make sure she didn't fall in.
